Raffael Ayé is a project leader at the Swiss Association for the Protection of Birds SVS/BirdLife Switzerland, where he is co-leading the national “Species Recovery Programme for Birds” in partnership with the Swiss Ornithological Institute and the Office of the Environment of the Swiss Confederation. In this role, he is initiating, planning, coordinating and/or managing numerous projects for the conservation of priority bird species in Switzerland. Conducting and coordinating studies on status and conservation measures as well as feeding scientific evidence and on-the-ground experience into policy and decision-making are additional tasks. Most important sectors of activity are agriculture and forestry. Before his job with SVS/BirdLife Switzerland, he was among others a consultant for the Wildlife Conservation Society in Afghanistan. He has extensive field experience of birds in Central Asia, especially Tajikistan, and is an author of the fieldguide "Birds of Central Asia".
